Free Software is better software. I won’t pretend to be the best person to explain why. There are numerous technical reasons, as well as ethical reasons. If you are interested in learning more, please read about it at the Free Software Foundation and the GNU project websites. Additionally, you can read this speech w/ slides by Greg Kroah-Hartman for a good introduction, although it is probably somewhat dated by now since GNU/Linux and Free Software has improved a lot since he gave the presentation.
